Open Question: Xbox 360 cannot connect to XBOX LIVE ?
I am unable to connect to XBOX LIVE with my XBOX 360. I'm currently at a friends home, he has internet through Time Warner Cable (Roadrunner). I am able to connect from my home fine (I have Verizon DSL). I'm able to connect from my brothers home (has regular Time Warner Cable broadband, don't believe it's "roadrunner") and everything works fine. Then I receive here to my friends home, and I can't even receive past the DNS test. I've tried the following things: -Renewing/releasing IP -Shutting off both XBOX 360 & modem/router -Switching back and forth from automatic to manual settings -In manual settings, inserting proper IP address/DNS, gateway and every of this to no avail. If I switch to manual mode and I insert every the info, I'm able to receive past the IP test but I receive a FAIL when I hit the DNS test. Each time it's able to pass the network adapter test. I do not have a wireless connection. Currently, I'm connected from the ethernet cable that is connected to the modem/router right now. When I try to log on to XBOX LIVE, I just disconnect the ethernet cable and insert it into the back of the XBOX 360. What am I doing wrong? I'm sorry, I was typing to quick and may not have explained myself correctly. Currently, on my computer, I'm connected to the internet by the ethernet cable that is connected to the modem/router. When I try to log onto XBOX LIVE, I disconnect the ethernet cable from the computer and insert it into the compartment in the back of the XBOX 360.

Okay im trying to register my comp to my xbox 360, I have multiple questions that need to be answered.. I downloaded Windows Media Player (WMP) 10, i need 11 and i updated my computer and everything and it says i now have genuine and every that and i download WMP 11, and it says 'validate' so i click it and it says "You may be a victim of software counterfeiting. This copy of Windows is not genuine." But i just updated my computer and i received genuine through the updates. These are the instructions to register the computer to xbox 360. Step 1: Download Windows Media Player Software. Step 2: Launch Windows Media Player. * On your Windows XP-based PC, launch Windows Media Player. Step 3: Turn on media sharing. * Click the arrow below the Library tab, and then click Media Sharing . * In the Media Sharing dialog box, select the Share my media to check box. * In the list of devices below the Share my media to check box, select your Xbox 360 console. * Click Allow . * Click OK . Step 4: Configure your Xbox 360 console. * In the Media area of the Xbox Dashboard, select Music, Pictures , or Videos . * Select your PC. The PCs on your network are listed by name. * Tip: if a media source is already selected, press X to select a different media source. * Select an item to play it. So when i go to WMP and click library and media sharing box, there is no list of devices, there is a box but nothing, i have my xbox 360 hook up and every that but my guess is that i tried it through WMP 10. My bf has an Xbox Gold account, and I have a Netflix account; we both live together. He was trying to find Netflix to download on the new Xbox dashboard, but doesn't know where it is. I'm buying my husband a xbox for Christmas and I want to receive some good games to go with it. He's nice of picky about certain things though. He refuses to play any first person games, so it has to be a third person game. And doesn't like super difficult games either. And no games that are mainly designed to be played online since he has no intention of even hooking the system up to the internet. To give you an idea of what he likes here are a few of his favorite games for other systems: Prince of Persia, God of War, Resident bad 4, and most James Bond games. I've seen a few games online, but have only arrive across a few that looked good. I think one was called Assassin's Creed. Anyway... any suggestions???

Open Question: Xbox 360 hard drive, need?
I'm planning on buying a Xbox for Christmas. But am confused as to which I should buy. I want to make one thing very clear - I am in no way a gamer. I don't play video games very often. Maybe four hours a month. And I definitely have no plans of ever even connecting it to the internet. I don't want to play other people online or even download demos. And I probably won't have but a few saved games. I also have no problem deleting games once I've beat them, and usually do that anyway. I really just want it to play a basic game every now and again. So I'm wondering if I can just receive away with buying the basic console with no difficult steer and safe myself a hundred bucks. I know a lot of people think buying the basic console is a waste, but I think for me it would work for me. Any suggestions???

I think it is okay. It is a bit more organized but the avatars rip off a certain game system rhyming with pii and are very gimicky and I have to wonder where xbox "Primetime" is, but what are your feelings on it already? Ok, so I've had my 360 since December of 06, and It was running fine until about May, then it started to say things like "to play this game put it in a Xbox 360 console" I found this odd because it was a 360. every my friends' 360's have pooped out and had the red ring of death, and got them replaced by microsoft, but no, mine has to be a hero and tough it out, im still waiting for it to receive it so i can send it in. Open Question: 'Limited or no connectivity'?
Long story short, I accidentally altered the settings on my wi-fi router a few weeks ago. Whether that's the cause or not, I don't know. But... Whenever I try to wirelessly connect my computer to my internet I am told that I have 'limited or no connectivity'. I tried to connect to my modem (via a cable) and was told that an IP Address had not been assigned, therefore I can't connect. Further to this, whenever I try to use my xbox 360 (I have a wireless adaptor) online I can't. I ran a test as was told that the 'DNS' test failed or 'timed out'. I appreciate this is quite vague information and it could be a number of things causing the problem, but any suggestions would be more than helpful. Thanks.

Open Question: How do I receive my free Netflix trial account via xbox live?
I have a gold membership for Xbox Live, I don't have a netlix account. The Xbox screen gave me a code and told me to go to www.netflix.com/activate . I went there and it had a sign in option. I Typed in the same email / password that I entered on the Xbox previously, and it gave me three free trial offer choices, which would be free for two weeks, and then would start billing my credit card. I don't have a credit card so I wasn't sure what I should do. I found out that the Xbox Live deal wasn't any of these, but instead was for just 48 hours, and seeing as with the credit card way, it didn't even ask for the code, I'm sure I was doing something wrong. I went back to the Netflix homepage, and found a tiny place at the top to enter codes, but it wasn't specific to Xbox Live. I entered the code on screen and it said it was invalid. I then had my Xbox generate me a new code, typed it in correctly and same affect. I did this 4 times, and everytime invalid. How do I receive my 48 hours free Netflix account?

Open Question: NXE problem? Or is it just my XBOX?
NXE problems.. A co-incident, or something more sinister...? After installing the new update (NXE), I tried the 'Installing CD to my HDD' option with Call of Duty 4. After it installed and I got it running, I decided to join a multiplayer game online. About 2 minutes into the game, COD4 went yellowish, i.e. it had a yellow tinge to it... I tried restarting our TV. Nothing. I tried taking the CD out and trying again. Nothing. I even tried deleting it from my HDD, and playing it with CD only. Still nothing. But when I restarted the XBOX, the image for the XBOX didn't arrive up! every I could hear was the familiar 'whooshing' sound that happens when you first turn on the XBOX, and the sound of me signing in, ect (so audio works fine)! It's definitely not the TV (I tried it on 2 different TVs). Is my cable broken, or is my XBOX broken. And does it have something to do with that update... Has this happened to anyone else?! Does anyone know how to fix it?!
